Karina matriculated from Girls High, Paarl in 1967. She qualified as a Radiographer in 1970 at the Karl Bremer hospital in Bellville and worked in both state and private hospitals for over 40 years. Karina painted as a hobby most of her life and is a self-taught Artist. After retiring in 2015, Karina started painting seriously.
She is widowed with 2 married children and 3 grandchildren. She lives in Eswatini but still has a home in Pretoria.
