“I create impressionistic paintings from my studio in Durban on the East Coast of Africa. My work is represented by selected galleries and found in private collections both locally and overseas.I aim to evoke a mood of gentle reflection within my works; a quiet consolation in the healing power of all that is beautiful.”
Sharleen paints with feeling which reveals the poetic quality of her nature, best expressed in florals and whimsical figures. When painting with oils, she usually listens to Chopin, an artist whose music connects very deeply with her. Often she reverts to her old love, drawing, and she especially enjoys using charcoal with oils to create a monochromatic sketchy painting. A very exciting new direction is her Stamp Art Collection which involves making her own stamps, using string, rope and cut outs. Her work is often described as soft and romantic and can be found in many private collections. She is also represented by art galleries in South Africa and the UK. Sharleen was born in Pietermaritzburg, and loves feedback on her works.
